Low-Profile Cardboard Baler | ToronBale™ CB Compact Hydraulic Baler

The ToronBale™ CB low-profile cardboard baler compresses corrugated cardboard, waste paper, and soft plastic scrap in facilities where low ceilings rule out a standard vertical baler. Torontech designed this compact cardboard baling machine around a cross-cylinder hydraulic layout that places the rams inside the frame rather than stacking them above the chamber. At just 2,225 mm (about 7 ft 4 in) tall, it fits under the ceiling clearance of most retail stockrooms and warehouse mezzanines, with no structural changes required.

Two Press-Force Models for Different Baling Volumes

Choose the capacity that suits your cardboard recycling output:

  • 30 ton model: produces 200 to 400 kg bales
  • 50 ton model: produces 300 to 500 kg bales on the same 1,200 x 800 mm footprint

Both models include a 1,050 x 550 mm feed opening sized for flattened shipping cartons and a 1,600 mm baling chamber. Bale height is adjustable from 500 to 1,000 mm, so operators can match bale size to a hauler’s trailer or shipping container.

Cut Haulage Costs and Earn More from Baled OCC

Retailers, distribution centers, and packaging plants rely on the ToronBale™ CB to reduce waste hauling expenses and generate income from baled OCC (old corrugated containers). PLC control keeps bale weight consistent from cycle to cycle, which makes pricing simpler when selling to recyclers who buy by the ton. An automatic bale ejector pushes each finished bale out of the chamber, eliminating the manual tipping step that slows older vertical balers.

Low-Profile Cardboard Baler Applications | ToronBale™ CB

The ToronBale™ CB low-profile cardboard baler suits any operation that generates steady volumes of dry recyclables and has limited overhead clearance. Its compact hydraulic design handles corrugated cardboard, waste paper, and soft plastic scrap in tight spaces where a standard vertical baler won’t fit.

Industries and Facilities That Benefit from a Low-Profile Baler

  • Retail Stores and Supermarkets: compresses flattened shipping cartons in back-of-house stockrooms, where ceiling height often falls below 8 ft.
  • Distribution Centers and 3PL Warehouses: processes inbound packaging waste at receiving docks and frees floor space once taken up by loose cardboard.
  • Corrugated Packaging Plants: bales converting scrap, trim, and rejected board for return to the paper mill.
  • Printing and Commercial Bindery Operations: turns paper offcuts, misprints, and waste stock into mill-ready bales.
  • E-Commerce Fulfillment Centers: manages the high volume of carton and void-fill waste created by pick-and-pack workflows.
  • Manufacturing and Assembly Plants: consolidates protective packaging, film, and soft plastic scrap that arrives with incoming components.
  • Hotels, Hospitals, and Institutional Facilities: cuts the volume of cardboard and paper waste in basement and service-level utility rooms.
  • Municipal and Commercial Recycling Depots: forms sorted fiber streams into transport-ready bales for onward sale.

Low-Profile Cardboard Baler

Low-Profile Cardboard Baler Key Features | ToronBale™ CB

The ToronBale™ CB low-profile cardboard baler pairs a space-saving press layout with the safety interlocks and component quality North American buyers expect from a commercial baling machine.

Compact Design and Productivity Features

  • Cross-Cylinder Hydraulic Design: holds overall machine height to 2,225 mm, so the baler fits under low ceilings and ships as standard freight without disassembly.
  • Automatic Bale Ejector: pushes the finished bale out of the chamber on demand, removing manual tipping and shortening cycle turnaround.
  • PLC Control System: monitors the compaction sequence and keeps bale weight consistent, which steadies revenue when selling baled fiber by weight.
  • Adjustable Bale Height: sets from 500 to 1,000 mm, so operators can match bale weight to container or trailer capacity.
  • Low Noise Operation: sound output stays at or below 70 dB, suitable for stockrooms next to customer-facing or occupied areas.

Operator Safety Features

  • Feed Gate Ram Interlock: halts downward platen travel as soon as the loading gate opens, keeping hands clear of the compaction zone.
  • Two-Hand Ejection Control: needs both hands on separate buttons during bale ejection, preventing contact with the moving bale.
  • Independent Emergency Stop: cuts hydraulic function through a dedicated circuit that runs apart from the main control system.
  • Anti-Rebound Gate Structure: designed to European and U.S. safety practice, it keeps compressed material in place and blocks uncontrolled door movement.

Durable, Serviceable Hydraulic Components

  • Reinforced Ram Guides: keep the platen face square when cardboard loads sit unevenly in the chamber, protecting cylinder seals from side loading.
  • NOK Hydraulic Seals: Japanese-sourced sealing components extend service intervals and cut seal replacement downtime.
  • A.M.C. Oil Pipe Joints: Japanese-made fittings keep hydraulic connections leak-free through thermal cycling and vibration.
  • Cartridge Valve Hydraulics: compact valve blocks from a U.S. supplier reduce plumbing volume and simplify troubleshooting.

Low-Profile Cardboard Baler Theory and Method | How the ToronBale™ CB Works

Vertical baling forces loose material into a confined chamber until the void space between pieces collapses and the fibers lock together. Pressurized hydraulic fluid drives the cylinders, which transmit force through the platen to the material below. Corrugated cardboard is elastic at first and springs back as the platen retreats. Once compaction passes the point where the flute structures crush and the fiber surfaces interlock, the material holds its compressed shape long enough for the operator to tie the bale.

Why a Cross-Cylinder Hydraulic Design Suits Low Ceilings

The cross-cylinder arrangement solves a geometry problem that is specific to low-ceiling sites. A single top-mounted cylinder needs the stroke length, cylinder body, and rod extension stacked above the chamber, which pushes overall height past 3 m on any machine with usable capacity. Mounting two cylinders diagonally inside the frame lets the same stroke fit within a 2,225 mm envelope. The crossed geometry also keeps the load path centered on the platen, so uneven material distribution does not tilt the press face.

Ram Guides and Anti-Rebound Dogs Build Bale Density

Ram guides run along the chamber walls and keep the platen square throughout its travel. Anti-rebound dogs on the chamber sides bite into the compressed layer and stop it from expanding when the platen lifts. Each new charge therefore builds on the last instead of re-compressing recovered material, so bale density accumulates across multiple strokes.

PLC Control for Repeatable Bale Weight

The PLC monitors cycle count and pressure, then signals a full chamber. This produces the repeatable bale weight that recyclers pay for, which makes it easier to price baled OCC by the ton.
