Dual Chamber Baler - ToronBale™ Dual
The ToronBale™ Dual is a dual chamber baler that compacts two separate waste streams side by side in one machine, so recyclables stay segregated from the moment they are generated. Torontech supplies this 3 ton twin chamber baler in a compact frame that measures 1,600 mm wide, 560 mm deep, and 1,750 mm tall. Each chamber has a 700 x 500 mm feed opening, and finished bales weigh 30 to 60 kg depending on the material.
This baler has low space and power requirements. A 0.75 kW motor drives it, and the whole machine weighs 500 kg. That suits sites where electrical capacity, deck loading, or floor area limit equipment choice. The 560 mm depth lets the unit sit flat against a wall in a service corridor or galley passage, and bale height is adjustable from 150 to 400 mm.
Vessels, hotels, resorts, and manufacturing plants use the ToronBale™ Dual to bale food residue, paper, plastics, and textile waste. Staff sort at the point of disposal instead of letting commingled material pile up for later separation. This keeps the commodity value of each recyclable stream intact and removes the downstream sorting labor that mixed collection creates.
Dual Chamber Baler Applications
The ToronBale™ Dual suits operations that produce several waste streams in small daily volumes and have no room for two separate machines.
- Commercial Vessels and Cruise Ships: separates galley residue from recyclables at source, supporting the segregation rules that govern shipboard garbage handling
- Hotels and Resorts: handles back-of-house waste from kitchens, housekeeping, and bar service in a single corridor-friendly unit
- Restaurants and Catering Operations: keeps food residue apart from packaging waste, protecting the value of the clean recyclable fraction
- Manufacturing Plants: bales two production waste streams in parallel where they arise, instead of hauling loose material to a central baler
- Offshore Platforms and Remote Sites: cuts the volume of waste awaiting transport where storage space and shipping slots are limited
- Laboratories and Healthcare Support Areas: keeps general recyclables separate from other waste categories in back-of-house service spaces
- Schools, Offices, and Institutional Kitchens: manages modest daily volumes without giving up floor space to two separate presses
- Textile and Garment Workshops: bales fabric offcuts in one chamber and packaging waste in the other
Standards
Torontech has not published any standards compliance for the ToronBale™ Dual dual chamber baler at this time. Buyers who need a particular safety certification, marking, or documentation for their jurisdiction or vessel classification should contact Torontech before placing an order. Available documentation varies by destination market and machine configuration.
Dual Chamber Baler Key Features
The ToronBale™ Dual is built around one design goal, keeping two waste streams apart, with hardware sized for compact installations.
- Twin Parallel Chambers: two materials compact independently on separate cycles, so neither stream waits and neither bale picks up contamination from the other
- Compact 560 mm Depth: the shallow footprint lets the baler sit against a wall in service corridors, galleys, and back-of-house passages
- Low 0.75 kW Power Draw: modest electrical demand suits vessels, older buildings, and sites with little spare circuit capacity
- Large 700 x 500 mm Feed Openings: each chamber takes bulky loose material without pre-cutting or repeated repositioning
- Door Strapping Slot: operators can check fill level and pass straps through the door while the charge stays under compression, locking in bale density
- Adjustable Bale Height: set bale height between 150 and 400 mm to match storage space or transfer container capacity
- Reinforced Ram Guides: keep the platen face square when material sits unevenly in the chamber, protecting cylinder seals from side loading
- NOK Hydraulic Seals: Japanese-sourced sealing components extend service intervals and reduce seal replacement downtime
- A.M.C. Oil Pipe Joints: Japanese-made fittings keep hydraulic connections leak-free through thermal cycling and vibration
- 500 kg Machine Weight: light enough for upper floors and vessel decks where structural loading limits apply
How a Dual Chamber Baler Works
Separating waste at the point of generation preserves value that mixed collection destroys. Clean paper sells as a graded commodity, while paper contaminated with food residue drops to a fraction of that value or gets rejected outright. Moisture and organic matter spread quickly once materials share a bin, so separation has to happen at the moment of disposal rather than later at a sorting station. Two chambers make that possible in a single footprint.
Single chamber balers force a trade-off that a dual chamber baler removes. An operator baling paper cannot accept plastic until that bale is finished, tied, and ejected. The second stream then piles up loose nearby or goes into the chamber and contaminates the bale. Parallel chambers let both streams compact on their own cycles, so neither material waits and neither enters the wrong bale.
Compaction relies on a short stroke rather than high pressure. Chamber height is 728 mm and finished bales measure 150 to 400 mm, so each chamber fills in only a few strokes. Ram guides hold the platen square as material spreads unevenly across the wide 700 mm face. The door slot lets the operator watch fill level and pass strapping through while the platen still holds the charge under load, which locks in density before the material can relax.
