Paper and Cardboard Baler - ToronBale™ PC
Facilities that generate fiber waste all day need more than a light-duty press tucked in a back room. The ToronBale™ PC paper and cardboard baler is built for that workload, turning loose recovered fiber into dense, mill-ready bales. Torontech supplies it in four models rated from 30 to 60 tons, with finished bale weights from 150 kg to 700 kg. The feed opening is 1,100 mm to 1,800 mm wide, so whole corrugated cartons and full press sheets drop straight in with no cutting or folding. Unit weight runs from 1,900 kg to 4,500 kg depending on the model.
Loading is designed to keep material moving. The feed door rises on its own with the platen, so the operator keeps loading without reaching for a door control between strokes. Over hundreds of cycles per shift, those seconds add up. When a bale is tied, the chain ejector pulls it out of the chamber, replacing the manual tipping that slows down older balers.
The bale size is also chosen with buyers and carriers in mind. The 60-ton model forms 1,800 mm by 1,000 mm bales of up to 700 kg, a footprint that stacks cleanly into trailers and containers. Corrugated converters, print shops, material recovery facilities (MRFs) and distribution centers all run this cardboard baler across the four sizes.
Paper and Cardboard Baler - ToronBale™ PC Applications
This waste paper baler suits any site that produces recovered paper and board every day in volumes mills are willing to buy.
- Corrugated Packaging Plants: compacts scrap, trim and rejected sheets into bales that go back to the paper mill under supply contracts
- Commercial Printing and Bindery: turns press waste, makeready sheets and guillotine offcuts into sorted bales that sell as recovered fiber
- Material Recovery Facilities: compresses sorted OCC and mixed paper as it leaves the picking line
- Distribution Centers and 3PL Warehouses: clears the steady stream of carton waste that builds up at receiving docks
- Retail Chains and Supermarkets: gathers back-of-house cardboard into bales where daily output justifies a full-size machine
- Office Buildings and Document Destruction: compresses sorted office paper and shredded material into higher-grade fiber bales
- E-Commerce Fulfillment Centers: handles the cartons and paper void fill that pick-and-pack lines produce
- Paper Mills and Recycling Depots: converts loose incoming fiber into compact, transport-ready bales before storage or resale
- Publishing and Newsprint Recovery: presses returned newspapers and magazines into bales for resale

Safety Standards
Torontech designs the ToronBale™ PC around the safety expectations of North American and European plants. Protection comes from an anti-rebound gate structure in line with European and U.S. baler safety practice, a feed-gate interlock that stops platen movement, a start interlock that keeps the machine from running with the safety door open, and a separate emergency stop. Because safety paperwork differs by destination market and machine configuration, check certification marks and local code requirements with Torontech before the unit is installed.
Paper and Cardboard Baler - ToronBale™ PC Key Features
This hydraulic paper baler combines a wide loading mouth with safety interlocks and hydraulic parts selected for continuous, high-volume operation.
- Wide Feed Opening, up to 1,800 mm: swallows uncut corrugated cartons and full press sheets, so nothing needs pre-breaking or folding
- Auto-Lifting Feed Door: travels upward together with the platen, eliminating a manual door step in every cycle
- Automatic Chain Bale Ejector: pushes the tied bale out at the touch of a control, ending manual tipping of loads up to 700 kg
- Press Force from 30 to 60 Tons: four ratings cover everything from single-site recovery to heavy converting and mill-feed duty
- Anti-Rebound Gate Structure: designed to European and U.S. safety practice, it keeps compressed fiber contained and stops the door from moving uncontrolled
- Feed Gate Ram Interlock: halts the platen’s downward stroke the instant the loading gate opens, keeping hands out of the compaction zone
- Safety Door Start Interlock: blocks start-up while the safety door is open, preventing a frequent cause of accidental cycling
- Independent Emergency Stop: a dedicated, easy-to-reach circuit that shuts down hydraulic power separately from the main controls
- Reinforced Ram Guides: hold the platen square when loads are uneven, shielding the cylinder seals from side loading
- Automatic Load-Balancing Design: spreads compaction force evenly over the platen, so off-center loads cannot shove the ram sideways mid-stroke
- Superposed Valve Block: a Taiwanese-sourced stacked valve unit that needs less installation room and gives technicians easier access
- Direct-Coupled Motor and Pump: a cross-connected direct drive keeps the motor and pump perfectly concentric, replaces standard couplings and prolongs pump life
- NOK Hydraulic Seals: Japanese-sourced seals that stretch service intervals and cut downtime for seal changes
- A.M.C. Oil Pipe Joints: Japanese-made fittings that stay leak-free despite heat cycles and constant vibration
- Adjustable Bale Height: adjustable from 500 to 1,050 mm depending on the model, allowing operators to tune bale weight to trailer or container loading
Theory and Method
Fiber is paid for by weight but shipped by volume, and that mismatch shapes the economics of any paper baler. Loose corrugated occupies about ten times the space it does once baled, which means a trailer runs out of room well before it hits its weight limit. Denser bales shift the limit back to payload, the measure freight charges are really based on. Press force exists to improve this ratio, though every extra bit of density after the first easy compression costs far more force than the last.
The geometry of the feed area controls how quickly the chamber fills. On the largest model, a 1,800 mm opening takes a flattened shipping carton in one piece, whereas a narrow throat would make an operator tear or fold that same carton first. A door that rises with the platen also saves a second manual motion every cycle. Larger, less frequent charges build flatter, more uniform layers than a stream of small ones, and that matters because uneven layering makes bales bulge and loads the straps unevenly.
The wide bale weight ranges have little to do with the machine itself. Recovered paper differs sharply in basis weight and moisture, so a bale of double-wall corrugated at ambient humidity weighs much more than a bale of sorted office paper of equal size. The published ranges therefore show what the chamber can produce across realistic grades and are not a promised single figure. To hit a target weight, operators tune bale height and stroke count to the material in the chamber.
