Hydraulic Transfer Stretcher
The ToronCare™ 1180 is a premium dual-hydraulic transfer stretcher designed for advanced patient positioning, hospital transport, examination, and procedure preparation. Its six-function positioning system combines hydraulic cylinders, gas springs, and a manual crank to provide precise adjustment across multiple clinical positions. As one of the most feature-rich models in the ToronCare™ hospital stretcher range, it is designed for demanding acute care and surgical environments.
Designed for hospitals and healthcare facilities in the U.S. and Canada, the ToronCare™ 1180 provides a versatile hospital stretcher bed platform for transport, examination, and patient preparation. Dual hydraulic height adjustment provides a 630–860 mm bed-board-to-ground range, while the adjustable backrest supports 0° to 85° articulation. The knee gatch adjusts from 0° to 30°, and Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positioning provide tilt adjustment from 0° to 13°. Two sets of push handles positioned at the head and foot ends support two-caregiver-assisted patient transport and help improve handling during extended hospital stretcher transport.
The radiolucent bed board allows X-ray imaging to be performed while the patient remains on the stretcher, helping reduce unnecessary patient transfers between departments. Foldable stainless steel side rails provide secure patient support while maintaining convenient access for clinical staff. An optional 200 mm castor configuration increases the bed-board-to-ground height range to 680–910 mm, providing additional compatibility with higher examination and procedure surfaces.
With a 105 kg net weight, the ToronCare™ 1180 provides a durable hydraulic hospital emergency stretcher platform suited to frequent use in emergency departments, surgical areas, examination rooms, and patient transport workflows.

Theory and Method
The ToronCare™ 1180 uses a double hydraulic system for primary stretcher height adjustment. Two independent hydraulic cylinders provide stable, parallel movement of the bed platform across the 630–860 mm height range, measured from the bed board to the ground. Foot pedals positioned on both sides of the stretcher activate the hydraulic pump, allowing caregivers to adjust the platform height from either side. A manual crank provides a secondary height-adjustment method for fine positioning and continued operation when hydraulic pressure is unavailable.
The backrest adjusts from 0° to 85°, while the knee gatch adjusts from 0° to 30° using gas-spring mechanisms. These mechanisms reduce the physical effort required for positioning while supporting smooth and controlled movement. Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positioning are hydraulically controlled across a 0° to 13° range, providing consistent positioning during clinical procedures, examination, and stretcher transportation.
The foldable stainless steel side rails can be lowered to provide unobstructed access to the patient and expose the radiolucent bed board for diagnostic imaging. The radiolucent surface supports X-ray and fluoroscopy procedures directly on the stretcher, helping minimize patient movement between the stretcher and imaging equipment.
Two sets of push handles, positioned at both the head and foot ends, allow two caregivers to share the physical effort required during medical stretcher transport. This configuration supports controlled movement through long hospital corridors, ramps, doorways, and confined areas. Central-locking 360° swivel castors with a retractable 5th directional wheel provide controlled steering and mobility. Standard castors measure 150 mm in diameter, while the optional 200 mm castors increase the operational height range to 680–910 mm.
