Homecare Hospital Bed (Manual) - ToronCare™ 5081

ToronCare™ 5081 is a manual homecare hospital bed designed for families and caregivers providing long-term, post-surgical, geriatric, or bedridden patient care at home. This multifunctional nursing bed combines lateral turning, chair positioning, leg elevation, a built-in toilet opening, and a bedside hair-washing station in one manually operated frame. All adjustments are powered by hand cranks and lead screws, eliminating the need for electricity and allowing reliable operation during power outages.

Designed as a practical manual homecare hospital bed, ToronCare™ 5081 provides essential patient positioning functions without the added cost or electrical requirements of a powered hospital bed. The manually operated backrest adjusts up to 70° to provide a more upright position for rest and care, while the articulated leg section supports comfortable positioning and improved circulation. Foldable aluminum alloy side rails mounted on stainless steel posts provide added patient protection and can be lowered quickly during transfers. Wooden head and foot boards with a water-based paint finish provide a residential appearance suitable for bedrooms and homecare environments.

With a maximum load capacity of 170 kg (375 lb) and durability-tested castors, ToronCare™ 5081 supports frequent patient repositioning and convenient movement within the home or care facility. This manual hospital bed is suitable for home healthcare, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and patients with limited mobility who require dependable positioning and daily nursing support.

Homecare Hospital Bed (Manual) - ToronCare™ 5081 Applications

ToronCare™ 5081 is designed for patients who spend extended periods in bed and for caregivers providing daily support. Its multifunctional design makes this manual homecare hospital bed suitable for residential care as well as professional healthcare and long-term care environments.

  • Home-Based Long-Term Care: Provides families with a multifunctional nursing bed for relatives recovering from illness or managing chronic conditions, helping support continued care at home.

  • Post-Surgical and Rehabilitation Recovery: Adjustable backrest and leg sections help patients achieve comfortable positions for resting, sitting upright, and repositioning during recovery from surgery or injury.

  • Elderly and Geriatric Care: Manual crank adjustments and protective side rails support elderly patients with limited mobility while making routine position changes easier for caregivers.

  • Stroke and Neurological Recovery: Lateral turning and chair positioning assist patients who have difficulty changing position independently and can help reduce the effects associated with prolonged bed rest.

  • Palliative and Hospice Care: Integrated toileting and hair-washing functions provide greater convenience and comfort while reducing the need for frequent or difficult patient transfers.

  • Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities: The manual, low-maintenance design provides practical patient care functions without electrical operation, helping simplify routine bed management.

  • Bedridden and Pressure-Prone Patients: Side-to-side positioning helps redistribute pressure across the body and can support regular repositioning routines for patients at risk of pressure sores.

  • Power-Limited or Off-Grid Homes: Fully manual operation allows the bed to remain functional without a continuous electrical supply, making it suitable for locations with limited or unreliable power.

Standards

ToronCare™ 5081 is designed in accordance with international standards addressing medical bed safety, mechanical strength, essential performance, and patient entrapment prevention. The product line is also identified by CE, FDA, ANVISA, and ISO certification marks according to the manufacturer, supporting medical device quality and regulatory market requirements.

  • IEC 80601-2-52:2026 - Medical Electrical Equipment, Part 2-52: Particular Requirements for the Basic Safety and Essential Performance of Medical Beds for Adults. This current revision specifically addresses both electrical and manual medical beds.

  • IEC 60601-2-52 - Medical Electrical Equipment, Part 2-52: Particular Requirements for the Basic Safety and Essential Performance of Medical Beds.

Homecare Hospital Bed (Manual) - ToronCare™ 5081 Key Features

ToronCare™ 5081 combines multiple patient-care functions in a manually operated hospital bed, helping caregivers manage positioning, hygiene, comfort, and daily patient needs without electrical power.

  • Lateral Turning Up to 45° Each Side: Allows side-to-side patient repositioning to help relieve pressure on vulnerable areas and support regular bed positioning while reducing the physical effort required from caregivers.

  • Cardiac Chair Position with Table Board: Converts the mattress platform into a seated posture with a 12° anti-slide seat tilt and fold-out table, providing a convenient position for eating, reading, and upright patient care.

  • Crank-Adjustable Backrest and Leg Sections: Manual hand cranks adjust the backrest up to 70° and position the leg section across a broad range, allowing caregivers to customize patient posture without electricity.

  • Built-In Manual Toilet Opening: A hand-cranked, lead-screw-operated commode opening allows toileting directly in bed, reducing the need for challenging patient transfers to a bathroom.

  • Integrated Hair-Washing Station: A removable mattress section works with a fitted shampoo basin, allowing caregivers to wash the patient's hair while the patient remains in bed.

  • Leg Elevation for Circulation: Raises the lower legs while the patient is lying flat to support comfortable positioning and help reduce fluid accumulation in the lower limbs.

  • Foldable Aluminum Alloy Side Rails: Lightweight protective rails mounted on stainless steel posts help reduce fall risks and fold down easily to facilitate patient transfers and caregiver access.

  • Residential Wooden Head and Foot Boards: Wooden boards finished with water-based, low-emission paint provide a warmer residential appearance that integrates naturally into homecare environments.

  • Four Durability-Tested Castors: Four swivel casters are tested for more than 50 km of continuous travel and over 30,000 obstacle crossings, supporting reliable movement and long-term daily use.

Theory and Method

Pressure ulcers can develop when prolonged pressure on bony areas such as the hips, sacrum, and heels restricts blood flow to the surrounding tissue. Without regular pressure relief, reduced circulation can contribute to tissue damage. Regular repositioning is therefore an important part of care for bedridden patients. ToronCare™ 5081 supports this routine through lateral turning: rotating the manual crank tilts the mattress platform up to 45° on either side, helping reposition the patient onto areas receiving less pressure without requiring a full manual log-roll.

Each adjustable bed section operates through a hand crank connected to a lead screw. As the crank rotates, the threaded screw converts rotary movement into linear force, similar to the mechanical principle of a car jack. This mechanical advantage allows a caregiver to adjust a loaded bed section with relatively low manual effort. The lead-screw mechanism also helps hold the selected position after the crank stops, eliminating the need for motors, batteries, or an electrical power supply.

Patient positioning can affect comfort, breathing, circulation, and daily care activities. Raising the backrest to an angle of up to 70° provides a more upright position for rest, feeding, and routine care, while leg elevation supports comfortable lower-limb positioning and venous return. The chair position folds the mattress platform into a seated configuration for activities such as meals and therapy. A 12° anti-slide seat tilt uses the angle of the platform to help maintain the patient's position and reduce forward sliding.
