Homecare Hospital Bed (Electric) - ToronCare™ 5083

ToronCare™ 5083 is an electric homecare hospital bed designed for patients who require extended care at home, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities. Push-button controls manage the backrest, leg elevation, lateral turning, and chair positioning, reducing the physical effort required for routine patient repositioning. A handheld remote operates each function through a medical-grade T-motion actuator for smooth and consistent adjustment.

The fully electric homecare bed provides powered backrest and leg adjustment, lateral turning, one-key chair positioning, an electric toilet opening, and a one-button CPR flat position. These functions help caregivers perform daily care tasks with less manual handling while providing patients with greater positioning flexibility.

A built-in backup battery maintains essential bed functions during power outages, providing approximately 20 load-bearing operations from a full charge. The ToronCare™ 5083 supports a safe working load of 170 kg (375 lb), while dampened drop-down side rails help improve patient safety during extended use. The breathable welded-mesh mattress platform provides ventilation and a supportive surface for long-term patient care.

Natural wood head and foot boards with a water-based paint finish give the electric hospital bed a residential appearance suitable for home environments. Four braked castors allow convenient movement between rooms while providing stability when the bed is stationary.

ToronCare™ 5083 is a practical electric homecare hospital bed for bedridden and reduced-mobility patients, combining powered positioning, backup battery operation, patient safety features, and caregiver-friendly controls for long-term home and institutional care.

Homecare Hospital Bed (Electric) - ToronCare™ 5083 Applications

ToronCare™ 5083 is designed for patients who require regular repositioning and caregivers who provide daily assistance. Its powered positioning functions make it suitable for home care, rehabilitation, nursing facilities, and long-term patient care.

  • Home-Based Long-Term Care: Provides families with an electric nursing bed that simplifies routine patient positioning and reduces the physical effort required from caregivers.

  • Stroke and Neurological Recovery: Powered lateral turning and chair positioning help reposition patients with limited mobility who may be unable to change position independently.

  • Post-Surgical and Rehabilitation Recovery: Motorized backrest and leg adjustments support sitting, resting, and posture changes during recovery with minimal caregiver assistance.

  • Elderly and Geriatric Care: Push-button controls provide easier operation for older patients and caregivers who may find manual bed adjustments difficult.

  • High-Dependency and Bedridden Patients: Electric side-to-side turning supports regular repositioning and helps reduce prolonged pressure on areas vulnerable to pressure injuries.

  • Cardiac and Emergency-Ready Care: The one-button CPR function quickly returns the mattress platform to a flat position to support emergency resuscitation procedures.

  • Palliative and Hospice Care: Electric positioning and toilet-opening functions help support patient comfort while reducing the need for physically demanding manual handling.

  • Nursing Homes and Long-Term Care Facilities: Powered positioning functions, durable construction, and a backup battery support routine use across extended-care environments.

Standards

ToronCare™ 5083 is designed with consideration for requirements related to medical electrical safety, medical bed performance, and patient safety. Its T-motion actuator is built to applicable UL, RoHS, and EN requirements, while the product line carries ISO certification marks according to the manufacturer.

  • ISO 13485 - Medical Devices: Quality management systems for regulatory purposes.

Homecare Hospital Bed (Electric) - ToronCare™ 5083 Key Features

ToronCare™ 5083 combines comprehensive electric nursing functions with a durable, low-maintenance frame designed to support patient comfort, caregiver efficiency, and long-term home or facility care.

  • Multi-Function Handheld Remote: A single controller operates the backrest, leg section, lateral turning, toilet opening, one-key chair position, and CPR release for convenient patient positioning.

  • Electric Lateral Turning: Powered side-to-side rotation of up to 35° on each side helps reposition patients at the push of a button while reducing manual caregiver effort.

  • Powered Backrest and Leg Adjustment: The motorized backrest adjusts up to 65°, while the thigh section reaches 60° to support upright positioning, feeding, resting, and routine patient care.

  • One-Key Cardiac Chair Position: A single-button control moves the bed deck into a seated chair position for meals, therapy, and upright recovery.

  • One-Button CPR Release: Quickly returns the backrest and leg sections to a flat position, providing a stable surface for emergency chest compressions.

  • Electric Toilet Opening: A powered 270 × 180 mm toileting aperture opens and closes on demand, providing convenient in-bed toileting and easier cleaning.

  • Medical-Grade T-Motion Actuator: The powered drive system is designed to meet UL, RoHS, and EN requirements for smooth and reliable electric bed movement.

  • Backup Battery: Provides approximately 20 load-bearing function cycles on a full charge, helping maintain essential powered adjustments during power outages.

  • Breathable Welded-Mesh Deck: A 1.4 mm resistance-welded steel mesh surface combined with a 9 mm odorless multilayer support board provides firm and ventilated mattress support.

  • Dampened Steel Side Rails: 1.2 mm wall-thickness epoxy-coated steel rails mounted on stainless steel posts help protect against falls, while dampers provide controlled lowering and help reduce pinching risks.

  • Optional Wooden Side Rails: Natural wood side rails with a water-based paint finish provide an alternative suited to residential homecare environments.

  • Integrated Night Light: A built-in light illuminates the area around the bed to support nighttime patient checks and transfers.

  • Four Braked Universal Castors: Lockable swivel castors are validated for more than 50 km of travel and over 30,000 obstacle crossings, supporting stable and reliable bed mobility.

  • Residential Wood Head and Foot Boards: Natural wood boards finished with water-based, low-emission paint provide a home-style appearance, while thickened anti-rust-coated hardware supports long-term durability.

Theory and Method

Each powered function on the ToronCare™ 5083 is driven by an electric linear actuator. Inside the actuator, a compact DC motor rotates a lead screw through a gear train, converting rotary motion into controlled linear force that raises or lowers the selected bed section. The handheld remote sends a low-voltage control signal to the control box, which directs power to the appropriate actuator and stops movement at the selected position. The screw-driven mechanism provides self-holding action, allowing each section to remain securely positioned without continuous power after adjustment.

Pressure ulcers can develop when sustained pressure over bony areas such as the hips and sacrum restricts blood circulation to the surrounding tissue. Regular repositioning helps relieve pressure and allows circulation to recover. ToronCare™ 5083 provides powered lateral turning of up to 35° on either side, allowing caregivers to reposition patients with limited mobility at the push of a button. This reduces the need for manual lifting or log-rolling and can help reduce physical strain during routine care, including overnight repositioning.

The bed also incorporates two functions designed for emergency situations. The one-button CPR control quickly returns the backrest and leg sections to a flat position, creating a firm platform for chest compressions. A built-in backup battery provides approximately 20 load-bearing function cycles when mains power is unavailable, allowing essential positioning and lowering functions to remain accessible during a power outage. Together, the CPR release and backup power system help maintain critical bed functions when rapid positioning or continued operation is required.
