Electric Homecare Bed (Premium) - ToronCare™ 5088
ToronCare™ 5088 is a premium electric homecare bed designed for advanced long-term patient care, combining automated repositioning, powered toileting, and multi-function electric adjustment. A handheld remote controls the backrest, leg sections, lateral turning, one-touch chair positioning, and one-touch return to a flat position. Voice-guided prompts confirm each command for easier operation. Programmable timed turning can reposition the patient every 30 or 45 minutes without continuous caregiver intervention, making this electric homecare bed suitable for overnight, residential, and round-the-clock care.
Designed around patient comfort, safety, and dignity, the ToronCare™ 5088 features a six-layer coconut-fiber and foam mattress with an anti-slide seating design for greater stability when the patient is raised to a sitting position. The powered commode pan supports toileting without requiring the patient to leave the bed, while the red emergency-stop button immediately stops all motor functions when needed. With a 200 kg (441 lb) safe working load, foldable aluminum side rails, and integrated IV pole sockets, the bed combines homecare convenience with essential clinical functionality.
Reinforced HDPE head and foot boards provide a durable, easy-to-clean surface for everyday care. Quiet, self-lubricating braked castors support smooth bed repositioning while helping keep the bed securely in place. The ToronCare™ 5088 is well suited for homecare environments, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities requiring a premium electric hospital bed for bedridden, elderly, or high-dependency patients.

Theory and Method
Pressure ulcers can develop when prolonged, unrelieved pressure over bony areas such as the sacrum and hips restricts blood flow and contributes to tissue damage. Regular repositioning helps relieve pressure from vulnerable areas and supports healthy circulation. Maintaining a consistent repositioning schedule manually can be challenging during overnight and continuous care. The ToronCare™ 5088 automates this process with programmable 30 or 45 minute turning cycles, tilting the mattress platform up to 50° to either side to provide consistent lateral repositioning with less caregiver intervention.
Raising the backrest can also contribute to forward sliding and shear forces. As the upper body moves upward, the patient's body can slide down the mattress, creating friction and shear around the sacral area. The ToronCare™ 5088 addresses this positioning challenge with a seat board that tilts upward by 12° and side panels angled inward by 30°. These features help stabilize the patient and maintain a more secure seated position during activities such as eating, reading, or watching television.
Medical beds used around moisture and operated in homecare environments require appropriate electrical protection. The ToronCare™ 5088 is classified as Class I equipment, with its metal frame connected to protective earth to provide a path for fault current. Its Type B applied part classification provides defined patient protection against electrical current. The IPX4 rating provides protection against water splashes from different directions, supporting use in care situations involving washing and toileting. A prominent red emergency-stop button provides rapid shutdown of motorized functions, while voice-guided prompts confirm control inputs and help support accurate operation.
