Connecting Transfer Stretcher for Operating Rooms
The ToronCare™ 1110 is a high-performance connecting transfer stretcher designed for controlled patient transport between non-sterile and sterile areas in hospitals and surgical facilities. Its specialized docking system supports patient transfer into the operating room while helping maintain sterile-zone separation. This medical stretcher provides a practical solution for healthcare facilities seeking efficient patient movement, infection-control support, and reliable surgical transport.
The ToronCare™ 1110 operates as a two-stretcher system consisting of Stretcher A, positioned inside the operating room as the sterile unit, and Stretcher B, positioned outside the operating room as the non-sterile unit. Once both stretchers are aligned at the same height and docked together, they automatically connect and lock to create a continuous, gap-free transfer surface. The patient and Bed Board C can then slide laterally from Stretcher B to Stretcher A, or in the opposite direction, minimizing the need for staff to enter the sterile area during patient transfer. This design supports infection-control procedures in operating rooms and other surgical environments where separation between sterile and non-sterile zones is essential.
Built for hospital patient transport, the ToronCare™ 1110 incorporates central-lockable 360° swivel castors for secure positioning and maneuverability, along with a retractable fifth wheel for improved directional control. Its gas-spring-controlled damping PP protective railing system retracts flush with the bed board, allowing smooth alignment and docking between the two stretcher units. Combining controlled patient transfer with practical mobility features, the ToronCare™ 1110 is suited to operating-room transfers, surgical patient movement, and routine hospital transport workflows.
Transfer Stretcher — ToronCare™ 1110 Applications
The ToronCare™ 1110 connecting transfer stretcher is designed to support controlled patient movement across sterile and non-sterile hospital areas. Its docking and lateral transfer system is suited to the following clinical environments and workflows:
-
Operating Room Patient Transfer — Supports patient handoff between sterile and non-sterile zones while minimizing unnecessary movement of staff into the sterile area.
-
Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Transport — Facilitates patient movement between preparation areas, operating rooms, recovery units, and hospital corridors.
-
Surgical Day-Care Units — Supports efficient patient transfer between preparation, procedure, and recovery areas where controlled patient movement is required.
-
Hospital Emergency Transport — Enables patient transfer between connected stretcher units without requiring manual lifting during the handoff process.
-
Specialized Surgical Suites — Suitable for transplant, orthopedic, cardiac, and neurosurgical environments where infection-control procedures and sterile-zone separation are important.
-
Aseptic Patient Transport Workflows — Provides a transfer solution for healthcare facilities with strict requirements for sterile and non-sterile area separation.
-
Hospital Stretcher System Upgrades — Offers an alternative to conventional stretcher arrangements where improved patient transfer and cross-infection control are required.
Transfer Stretcher — ToronCare™ 1110 Key Features

-
Dual-Zone Infection Control Design — Uses Stretcher A for the sterile operating-room area and Stretcher B for the non-sterile corridor, supporting controlled patient transfer between separate zones.
-
Automatic Mechanical Docking — Align the two stretchers at the same height and push them together to activate automatic locking, eliminating the need for manual latching.
-
Seamless Lateral Patient Transfer — Bed Board C moves laterally between the two stretcher units, allowing patient transfer without lifting and helping reduce physical strain on patients and healthcare staff.
-
Gas-Spring-Damped Retractable PP Side Rails — Side rails retract flush beneath the bed board during docking and automatically rise after the stretcher units are separated.
-
Central-Lockable 360° Swivel Castors — Four 150 mm diameter castors can be secured simultaneously using a central locking pedal for stable positioning during patient transfer.
-
Retractable Fifth Wheel — Provides enhanced directional control and maneuverability during stretcher transportation through long hospital corridors.
-
Manual Scissor-Lift Height Adjustment — A side-mounted crank provides smooth, stepless height adjustment from 660 mm to 910 mm, measured from Bed Board C to the ground.
-
Adjustable Backrest — Backrest angle adjusts from 0° to 85° to accommodate different patient positioning requirements during transport.
-
Large Removable Bed Board C — Measures 1906 × 610 mm, providing a spacious patient-support surface designed for comfortable and secure transport.
-
Standard Accessories — Supplied with a mattress and IV pole for practical hospital patient transport.
Theory and Method
The ToronCare™ 1110 operates on a zone-separation patient transfer principle, designed to maintain a controlled boundary between sterile and non-sterile hospital areas. Stretcher A is positioned within the operating room sterile zone, while Stretcher B remains in the non-sterile area. Before transfer, both stretcher units are adjusted to the same height using the manual crank mechanism, which drives the scissor-lift frame to provide stable and precise bed-board positioning.
After the height is matched, the two stretchers are pushed together and automatically secured through the mechanical docking interface. This creates a continuous, gap-free transfer surface between the units. The patient remains on the removable Bed Board C, which can then be moved laterally from Stretcher B to Stretcher A without requiring the patient to be lifted. This transfer method helps reduce physical handling and supports controlled patient movement during operating-room transport.
The side railings incorporate gas-spring damping and retract beneath the bed board during docking. This allows the two stretcher units to align closely and form a flush transfer surface. Once the stretchers are separated, the railings automatically return to their raised position to provide patient protection during transport.
The central-lockable castor system secures all four wheels simultaneously, helping prevent unwanted stretcher movement during the transfer process. A retractable fifth wheel can be engaged when additional directional control is required, improving maneuverability through narrow hospital corridors and during longer stretcher transportation routes.
