Hydraulic Transfer Stretcher
The ToronCare™ 1150 is a full-featured hydraulic transfer stretcher designed to provide powered height adjustment and advanced patient positioning for hospital and medical transport applications. Developed for acute care facilities in the U.S. and Canada, this versatile hospital stretcher combines ergonomic operation with a wide range of positioning functions. Its double hydraulic system is controlled by foot pedals on both sides, allowing a single operator to adjust stretcher height and tilt without manual cranking. This design supports efficient patient handling in busy emergency departments, surgical areas, and other high-use clinical environments.
The ToronCare™ 1150 hydraulic stretcher offers multiple patient positioning options through its hydraulic adjustment system. The backrest can be positioned from 0° to 85°, while Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg adjustments range from 0° to 12°. The stretcher provides a height range of 813 to 500 mm, measured from the bed board to the ground. Gas-spring-controlled PP retractable side rails lower smoothly and sit flush beneath the bed board, helping create a clear transfer surface when positioning the stretcher alongside operating tables, hospital beds, or procedure platforms. This configuration supports direct lateral patient transfer without lifting, making it suitable for operating room and procedure-area applications.
The foldable stainless steel side rails and radiolucent bed board allow X-ray imaging to be performed directly on the stretcher, eliminating the need to move the patient to another imaging surface. This can help streamline clinical workflows while reducing unnecessary patient handling. With a net weight of 82 kg, the ToronCare™ 1150 is designed for frequent daily use as a hospital emergency stretcher, patient transport stretcher, and operating-room-adjacent transfer platform.

Theory and Method
The ToronCare™ 1150 operates with a double hydraulic system featuring foot pedals positioned on both sides of the stretcher. Activating the appropriate pedal operates the hydraulic pump to raise or lower the scissor-lift frame smoothly across the 813–500 mm height range. Dual-side pedal access allows caregivers to adjust the stretcher height from either side without moving around the unit, helping streamline patient transport and positioning workflows in busy clinical environments.
The hydraulic system also controls Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg positioning from 0° to 12°, allowing the entire bed platform to tilt head-down or feet-down according to clinical requirements. The backrest adjusts independently from 0° to 85° through a separate mechanism, enabling upper-body elevation while maintaining the selected position of the main bed platform.
The gas-spring-controlled retractable PP side rails lower and retract flush beneath the bed board when the stretcher is positioned alongside an operating table or hospital bed. This creates a continuous transfer surface with minimal obstruction, supporting direct lateral patient transfer between adjacent surfaces. Once the stretcher is moved away from the transfer surface, the gas-spring mechanism returns the side rails to their upright position for patient protection.
The 150 mm diameter central-locking 360° swivel castors provide stable mobility and centralized wheel control during transport. A retractable 5th directional wheel further improves steering precision and maneuverability when moving the stretcher through hospital corridors and clinical areas.
