DSR1 Desk Sputter Coater
The DSR1 Desk Sputter Coater is a compact coating system that deposits thin films of noble metals, including gold (Au), palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and gold/palladium (Au/Pd), onto non-conductive or poorly conductive specimens. It produces uniform, fine-grain films within a short cycle time.

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Principles
If you analyze samples by SEM or TEM every day, you know that a dependable coating system is essential for high-stakes imaging. The Torontech DSR1 Desk Sputter Coater is a budget-friendly, high-performance solution that works on the principle of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD).
In this process, energized Argon ions strike a solid metal target at high speed. The impact releases tiny metal atoms, which travel across the vacuum and settle on your specimen as an even, ultra-thin coating.
This is known as a collision cascade. When Argon ions hit the metal target, they pass their energy along through a rapid series of impacts. Atoms at the target surface are ejected, resulting in a clean, predictable transfer of material onto the specimen being examined.
Plasma Generation and Magnetron Technology
To accelerate these ions, the DSR1 generates a glow discharge in a low-pressure environment. Powered by a robust two-stage direct drive rotary vane pump (4 m³/h capacity), it reaches a vacuum of less than 40 millitorr. Applying a negative charge to the metal target within the Argon-filled chamber produces a dense plasma.
Basic DC charging is sufficient for routine SEM preparation, but the DSR1 also includes a built-in 2-inch magnetron cathode, which yields an ultra-fine, nearly invisible grain and makes the whole process more efficient. Plasma cleaning is integrated as well, clearing surface contaminants before any metal is deposited so that high-resolution imaging results are crisp and spotless.

Return Policy:
Torontech WorldWide may accept return of purchased merchandise within North America for refund or credit under the following conditions -
- There may be an additional restocking fee charged to the transaction if items are already shipped to customer.
- Goods must be returned to Torontech WorldWide within 5 days of the date of the receipt of the purchased goods.
- All freight, duties, customs, and other related shipping charges for the returned merchandise are borne by the purchaser. Shipments made freight collect will be refused.
- Merchandise must be returned properly packaged in brand new, salable condition, along with original packaging and all documentation, accessories and certificates.
- Purchaser has confirmed return authorization directly with Torontech.
